Jesus was not happy with the hypocrisy of many of the church leaders of His day.

"But, woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in." (Matthew 23:13)

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation." (Matthew 23:14)

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves."
(Matthew 23:15)

When one practices hypocrisy as their way of life, they are in effect cursing and defying God. Far worse is it to steal, lie, cheat, covet, and defile God's Creation, than to simply utter a harsh word against God in a fit of anger. The blasphemy of hypocrisy leads to eternal damnation, even from a loving God, who is quick to forgive an unkind utterance from an untrained tongue. Evil actions speak far more profoundly than evil words.
